Well, to put it plainly…the master gave his dog too much leash, and instead of tugging him back, he let go of the leash.
{Instead of appearing somber however, Sebastian’s expression was becoming even more jovial. Large, glimmering canines were now evident as he smiled, and the hue of his eyes was changing to become a brighter crimson.}
The freedom is nice. I suppose I was growing a bit tired of the arrangement between Earl Phantomhive and myself as well.
{The demon lifted his left hand, studying the faint remains of the seal on the back of his hand. He knew that the mark would be extremely hard for a human to see in the dark.}
“What, how?” Pale eyebrows practically jumped off his brow. “How can’t you—” To be indifferent about losing his master, one he seemed to be tightly bound to in multiple ways, how could he do it? “How can you both just let go like it means nothing!?” Minor tears of confusion, fear, and anger began to ebb up at the corners on his eyes. “After so many years, you simply just roll it off your back! Sebastian, of all butlers I would think that you would…would—” Words seemed to lose any significance to what was most likely a one sided argument. The fact that his friend just simply left without a worry…it was incomprehensible for the ever loyal Bengali butler.
“Where is it you stay now, or have you already found someone else to loyally serve?” If he had, the coal in his belly would only burn deeper than it already was. It was horrid enough to think such news could be pushed away like nothing, but to replace the missing thing in your life quickly and numbly…Agni didn’t understand.
Goodness me.
{The former butler’s smile faded some as he watched the tears form. A look of disgust briefly crossed his vision as he watched the rambling Indian man become enveloped in such pointless emotions.}
He was nothing but a meal—albeit a meal that would have tasted better than any. I have eternity to find much more delicious fare.
{The demon came closer, grasping the male’s chin and staring into the emotion-filled eyes of the prince’s servant. His own hues had changed from bright red to a rippling fuchsia.
After a moment his grip tightened to that where his fingers could have easily broken bone, though for the moment he refrained.}
Deep argent eyes widened in shock at the taunting look in Sebastian’s eyes—those eyes were not the ones he knew. True, the butler clad in black always had a thick shade over his almost bloodily tainted brown eyes, but it seemed this unnatural and throbbing magenta had burned it away. What was this? He tried to yank away sharply, but the attempt was stopped by an iron grasp.
“A meal!?” He repeated like an enraged parrot, jaw clenching best it could under its restrain. “What happened to the man I knew who took my advice to heart—the one who understood to love Ciel— he’s just a child!” This couldn’t be real, no! His overtired mind was running wild, Sebastian wasn’t like this, this was some—some…demon vexing his psyche.
Love?
{A quiet, mocking laughter fell from the demon’s lips.}
Love was not once a part of what was shared between us.
{The amusement on Sebastian’s face was of a cruel, evil nature. As he watched the confusion grow in the taller man’s eyes, he felt as though the power of his body was growing. Hand still clamped painfully on the man’s jaw, his grip jerked down so that the man would be forced to kneel. In the same instance, Sebastian showed the other the back of his left hand—the faded seal of the contract between he and his previous master still visible there.}
For both of us, it was nothing but an agreement for mutual gain. In the end I would earn his very soul. Curious what one can mimic when they desire something—no?
Well, considering that the contract was broken after I was essentially disowned, I don’t see how that means I broke anything.
;The smirk curled higher on his pale features.;
The master allowed his dog more leash than he wished, and instead of pulling him back, he let go of the leash entirely.~
“Perhaps—…”
Ah the memories of that day rushed back to him— what an adrenaline rush it was. Recalling the emotions he felt as the world’s of many fell apart… he couldn’t help but let out a small chuckle before returning to a seat across the room and away from the chair the other demon chose to perch himself on.
“…— although your mannerisms have changed as well.”
Freedom does that to a person, no?
;The demon chose to sweep into the chair that the youth had abandoned. Leaning back into it, he lifted his hand to study the back and the barely-visible seal of the contract. His life now was certainly more eventful than during his days of slavery, even if he had been denied a meal that was sure to please.;
“I suppose.. though I hoped that you were at least better-mannered than you currently are. Given the amount of time and energy you spent for one soul, as opposed to simply stealing it, I would have thought you were a more… refined… demon.”
Refined? You consider it refined to nurture a soul simply to devour it? I have eternity. I can be whatever I choose at any given time. I have “manners” or I can be much less than that. However it is only to get what I want.
With a sigh, the teen shifted positions on his chair, right elbow on the armrest as his fist raised so as to rest his cheek on it. “Whatever you say, Sebastian.” Despite this conversation, the teen was still unsure of just exactly what the other wished for. After all, Sebastian was a demon. A creature only out for their own well-being and gain. If he was here, something must be of importance to him.
{How amusing. It was almost as though the teen had given in to the inevitability that demons were not made of anything nice.
Sebastian’s sanguine gaze lifted upwards, and he found himself studying the younger’s posture and expression. Vaguely he sensed a mind at work and somewhat lost in thought. Though he could only make guesses as to what had crossed the youth’s mind. Saying nothing, a smirk hovered about Sebastian’s thin lips.}
